Tulane receives four-star charity rating
Tulane University has received a perfect four-star rating from Charity Navigator, a nonprofit evaluator that assesses the financial health of America's largest charities in order to aid donors with making the right charitable choices.
Only about a quarter of the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator receive its highest designation of four stars.
“Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way,” says Ken Berger, president and CEO of Charity Navigator.
The organization defines the four-star rating as “exceptional exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.” Only about a quarter of the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator receive its highest designation.
Yvette Jones, executive vice president for university relations and development, says that the rating, which noted the university's sound financial management and commitment to accountability and transparency, affirms that Tulane is performing as a credible, ethical and strategic organization.
“This honor can give donors confidence in knowing that they are supporting an organization that is fulfilling its mission while being fiscally accountable,” says Jones.
