Tuning up

Members of the Tulane University Marching Band warm up before last year's Le Krewe d'Etat parade. This year, along with appearing in Le Krewe d'Etat on Feb. 8, the band will march with the Krewe of Bacchus on Feb. 10 and the Krewe of Rex on Carnival Day, Feb. 12.

Stretching before the march is advisable. Krewe d'Etat uses the traditional uptown parade route, which is roughly 4.3 miles long.

The sousaphone section rehearses its chops.
