Under the Oaks

A student sports an appropriately decorated mortarboard for the Under the Oaks celebration hosted by the Newcomb College Institute on Friday (May 16). The ceremony held during commencement week each year preserves long-held traditions from the Newcomb College commencements of the past.

Members of the junior class assemble a daisy chain, made up of more than 1,000 flowers. The daisy chain is a tradition from the early days of Newcomb College.

Graduating seniors don their regalia for the Under the Oaks ceremony.

The daisy chain is presented to the Under the Oaks attendees.

Undergraduates hand flowers from the daisy chain to Newcomb College alumni from the class of 1964.
