A lakefront sunset is a relaxing way to end the day.

A family enjoys the last hours of daylight as the sun sets over Lake Pontchartrain. In 1699, Iberville named the lake in honor of Louis Phélypeaux, comte de Pontchartrain, a French politician. Native Americans referred to Lake Pontchartrain as “Okwata,” meaning wide water.
