As New Orleans shivers through its coldest weather of the season, camellias are bursting with beauty across the New Orleans area, including these light pink blooms crowded against an iron fence in the university neighborhood. (Photos by Carol J. Schlueter)
This darker pink variety of camellia is particularly bright, but other blooms around the area range from white to red to red-and-white striped.
