Changemakers Converge at TEDx Event Hosted by Tulane University

Some of New Orleans" most active innovators, from entrepreneurs to educators to students, will share their vision for positive social change in New Orleans Nov. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Kendall Cram room of Tulane University"s Lavin-Bernick Center. A reception will follow. Dubbed TEDxTU, the event will feature:

  • Kyle Berner, founder of Feelgoodz, a company that produces biodegradable flip flops from 100% natural Thai rubber, grown by fairly treated farmers;
  • Avery Brewton, of Tulane"s Center for Public Service, who coordinates volunteer opportunities throughout New Orleans;
  • Matt Candler, founder of 4.0 Schools, chairman of the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools and co-founder of the city-wide teacher support community Closing the NOLA Gap;
  • Andrea Chen, co-founder of Social Entrepreneurs of New Orleans, an organization that helps innovators take their ideas from vision to reality;
  • Janet Davas, executive director of Liberty"s Kitchen, a social enterprise dedicated to transforming the lives of New Orleans" youth by providing a path to self-sufficiency through food service-based training, leadership and employment programs;
  • John Elstrott, Executive Director of the Levy- Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship at the Tulane A.B. Freeman School of Business;
  • Robert X. Fogarty, executive director of evacuteer.org and founder of Dear New Orleans + Dear World;
  • Egwaoje Ifeyinwa Madu, who has committed her life to reducing maternal mortality through community work in Nigeria.
