Film Director, Writer and Actor Peter Bogdanovich to Speak at Tulane University

Acclaimed film director Peter Bogdanovich will speak at Tulane on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The event, held in Freeman Auditorium in the Woldenberg Art Center, begins at 7 p.m., followed by a reception and book signing. It is free and open to the public.

The director of the film classics The Last Picture Show, What"s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon and Texasville, Bogdanovich has earned critical acclaim as a screenwriter, critic, biographer, and actor – most recently on The Sopranos, playing psychiatrist Dr. Elliot Kupferberg. His achievements have been marked by Oscar nominations, film critic awards, and a spot on the bestseller list for his book, Who the Devil Made It?

His talk at Tulane will be based on this book, a collection of his interviews with sixteen legendary film directors, including Alfred Hitchcock, Howard Hawks and Fritz Lang. In his presentation, Bogdanovich will talk about his adventures from a lifetime of movie-making, illustrated with film clips – his own and those of the directors in his book – as well as with anecdotes brought to life by dead-on impersonations of everyone from Hitchcock to Cary Grant.

Bogdanovich"s visit to Tulane is sponsored by the Department of English Creative Writing Fund, in conjunction with the Office of Cocurricular Programs, the Duren Professorship Program, the Honors Program, and the Department of Communication.
