More: Steinem is on campus for the Newcomb College Institute"s second annual Powerhouse Speakers Series. She will give a free lecture at 7 p.m. in the Lavin-Bernick Center"s Kendall Cram Lecture Hall. Her talk is open to the public.

A writer, editor, lecturer and activist, Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine and Ms. Foundation for Women, and helped to found New York magazine. Born March 24, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio, she lives in New York City, and is currently at work on Road to the Heart: America As if Everyone Mattered, a book about her more than 30 years on the road as a feminist organizer.
