When: 2 p.m., Sunday, August 4. Doors open at 1 p.m.

More: New medical students don their white doctor"s coats for the first time in a tradition-filled first step on their path to become physicians. Joining the celebration are the students" families and friends.

HEAL-X (Health Education Adaptive Learning Experience) is a program at Tulane School of Medicine for students who have earned a PhD in one of the biomedical sciences. Each year the school accepts up to 15 qualified students who will have a unique expedited 3½-year curriculum leading to a medical degree.

The ceremony"s keynote speaker is Dr. Daniel Winstead, Robert G. Heath Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Tulane University School of Medicine.
