Steve Madden to speak to Tulane students on business, building a fashion empire
Renowned shoe and fashion designer Steve Madden will address Tulane students on the art of wearing many hats – and shoes – while building his business and fashion empire. The conversation, which will be moderated by Her Campus co-founder, Windsor Hanger Western, will begin at 6 p.m. on April 25 in the Kendall Cram Lecture Room on the second floor of the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life.
The event is part of Madden’s 'Self Made' initiative, an ongoing entrepreneur support and mentoring program, and is sponsored by Her Campus and The Albert Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Guests planning to attend the event are asked to please RSVP. The first 50 attendees who arrive will receive a $50 Steve Madden gift card and a $100 gift card will also be raffled off at the end of the event.
In 1990, Madden took a $1,100 investment and turned it into the shoe empire that is Steve Madden today. Madden designs, sources and markets fashion-forward footwear and accessories for women, men and children. There are approximately 120 Steve Madden stores across the United States, and 250 in over 65 countries.
Madden’s story and success have served as an inspiration to others in the industry as well as entrepreneurs worldwide – and now, he hopes to deliver that same encouragement to the next generation of aspiring business leaders. A recent documentary on Madden, Maddman: The Steve Madden Story, debuted on Netflix this year.
