Tulane Board Unanimously Endorses Proposal for New Academic Medical Center

The Board of Tulane University today unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) developed by officials from LSU, Tulane and the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH).

The MOU defines the governance and operational structure of the proposed new academic medical center that would replace Charity Hospital.

In a special meeting conducted via conference call, the board ratified the MOU, which was supported and recommended by Board Chair Jay Lapeyre and President Scott Cowen.

Alan Levine, Secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals, distributed and outlined the contents of the MOU at a press briefing yesterday.
