WHAT: An open house for the Tulane Libraries Recovery Center that will process approximately 210,000 items that were damaged when Katrina"s floodwaters poured into the basement of Tulane University"s Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, an area about the size of a football field. Staffers will also be on hand to explain the restoration process.
WHEN: April 16 from 2 to 5 p.m. in conjunction with National Library Week

WHY: More than two years after Hurricane Katrina flooded the basement of the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library at Tulane, restored materials are now returning to its collections thanks to the opening of the Tulane Libraries Recovery Center. In total the Recovery Center will handle more than 300,000 items from restoration, donations and replacement purchases.
