Tulane University to Close Due to Gustav Threat

Due to the unpredictable course of Tropical Storm Gustav, Tulane University will close at noon tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 29. The university will resume normal business operations on Wednesday, September 3, while classes will resume on Thursday, Sept. 4.

If circumstances change, updated information will be posted on Tulane"s emergency website http://emergency.tulane.edu and on the Tulane Alert Line at 1-877-862-8080 or 504-862-8080. Tulane community members will also receive a text message.

Tulane officials urge students, faculty and staff to stand ready to enact their personal emergency preparedness plans and continue to monitor http://emergency.tulane.edu and the Tulane Alert Line for the latest news on university operations.

Campus residence halls will be closed at noon, Saturday, August 30. Any student with no other means to leave the university will be taken by bus to the campus of Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, where they will be sheltered until their return to Tulane. The busses will leave at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Reily Center.
