Tulane University to Host Prostate Cancer Symposium

Tulane Cancer Center and national advocacy group The Prostate Net will host an information-packed seminar about the latest advances in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment options from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, in room 212 of the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life on Tulane"s uptown campus.

The free event, which is for patients, spouses, advocates and healthcare professionals, will feature Tulane prostate cancer experts Dr. Oliver Sartor, urologist Dr. Benjamin Lee and radiation oncologist Dr. Terry Kraus, among others.

“The seminar day will be divided into two tracks with presentations geared toward prostate cancer survivors and their family members being held concurrently with other talks aimed at healthcare providers,” said Sartor, medical director of the Tulane Cancer Center and symposium organizer.

Sessions for patients and families members include: “Treatment of Advanced-Stage Disease,” “What Do I Do When My Cancer Comes Back?” and “Controlling Therapeutic Side Effects/Pain Management.” Sessions for healthcare providers will focus on the treatment strategies.
