Janice Martin Foster graduated from Tulane Law in 1970, becoming the first black woman law graduate of the university. Fifty years later, after an illustrious career at Jones Walker, she will be inducted in the 2020 class of the Tulane Law School Hall of Fame.

The daily lineups of more than 100 celebrated and rising authors have been announced for the New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane. The book festival is free and open to the public with the exception of three keynote author sessions. General admission tickets for the keynote events are $10 and are now available. Students are admitted free with a valid ID.

Music Rising at Tulane will hold a discussion titled “African American Women Affecting the Arts,” on Friday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Rogers Memorial Chapel on the uptown campus. Lauren E. Turner, of No Dream Deferred NOLA; Asali DeVan Ecclesiastes, of Ashe Cultural Arts Center; Kesha McKey, of KM Dance Project; Stephanie McKee-Anderson, of Junebug Productions; and Gia M. Hamilton, of the New Orleans African American Museum, will discuss their thoughts about the state of contemporary arts in New Orleans. The event is free. For more information, click here.
