Musicians serenade city’s healthcare heroes in ‘Letters from the Porch’ concert series

The School of Medicine has partnered with local artists to launch a series of filmed front porch performances as a love letter to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. Segments will be screened in wellness areas in University Medical Center and Tulane Health System.

Air pollution in Louisiana tied to higher COVID-19 impact

Tulane Law Community Outreach Director Kimberly Terrell, who works in the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, analyzed air pollution data and found most of the parishes with the highest per capita COVID-19 death rates in the state are in the industrial corridor from Baton Rouge to New Orleans, where air pollution levels are above the national average.

SSW alumna supporting released and exonerated individuals

School of Social Work alumna Angelique Thomas works with the Innocence Project New Orleans, a nonprofit law office working to free innocent, life-sentenced individuals and support them after their release. Thomas and her team are providing guidance to clients remotely and delivering essential items like groceries, cleaning supplies and masks.

Applications for online MPH program being accepted for fall 2020

The Online Master of Public Health program at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine was designed to expand access to a diverse group of students driven to promote health equity, give a voice to those in need and create healthier communities for all. The application deadline for the fall 2020 term is July 27.

Items from Howard-Tilton and Offsite available for pickup

Tulane students, faculty and staff can request print materials held at the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library or Offsite Depository locations for pickup. Items can be checked out using your library account and will be available for pickup in the library’s lobby entrance on Tuesdays between 10 - 11 a.m. or Thursdays between 2 - 3 p.m.

House Calls in the 21st Century: Making Telemedicine Work in Your Practice

The John W. Deming Department of Medicine will host a Medicine Grand Rounds on “House Calls in the 21st Century: Making Telemedicine Work for Your Practice” featuring Reena Mehta, MD, adjunct instructor at the School of Medicine, on Wednesday, May 6, from noon to 1 p.m. The event will be held via Zoom and the School of Medicine Facebook page.
