Tulane professor elected to international law association

Martin Davies, director of Tulane’s Maritime Law Center, was elected to the Comité Maritime International for his significant contributions to the field. CMI is a 121-year-old international organization comprised of maritime associations from the world’s leading shipping nations.

James W. Fisher Distinguished Lectureship

Tulane’s Department of Pharmacology will hold its 22nd annual James W. Fisher Distinguished Lectureship today at noon. This year’s lecture, “Mitochondrial Function and Heart Failure,” will be presented by Rong Tian, MD, PhD, director of Mitochondria and Metabolism Center, professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine, and bioengineering adjunct professor of biochemistry and pathology, at the University of Washington. The lecture will be held in Tulane’s School of Medicine Hutchinson Memorial Building, Room 7062. For more information, click here .

Rakugo: Japanese Traditional Comedy in English

Tulane’s Asian Studies Program, with the Japan Club of New Orleans and the Japan Foundation of New York as co-sponsors, invites the community to “Rakugo: Japanese Traditional Comedy” in English by Katsura Sunshine on Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life, Qatar Ballroom. Katsura Sunshine is the first Western Rakugo storyteller in the history of the “Kamigata” Rakugo tradition based in Osaka. For more information, click here .
