Tulane Athletics announces student-athlete study abroad program

Through a generous gift by Jill and Avie Glazer, Tulane Athletics, Newcomb-Tulane College and Tulane’s Department of Sociology have teamed up to offer a study abroad program for student-athletes. Tulane Athletics will launch the program in May 2020 with a 12-day trip to Australia.

Tulane scientist embarks on mission to Florida-sized glacier

Brent Goehring, Arnold Early Career Professor and geologist in the Tulane School of Science and Engineering, is heading to the Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica as part of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration, which aims to understand the glacier, the surrounding ocean system and their future contribution to the global sea level.

The Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life at Tulane is hosting a Friends-themed Thanksgiving celebration today from 2 to 4 p.m. in Nalty Commons. Attendees can enjoy free food and coffee and custom Tulane and Friends giveaways. Four of the best Friends Thanksgiving episodes will also be screened and fans can take a picture on the iconic Central Perk couch. Those who wish to enter a raffle can do so by donating a non-perishable food item to Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans. For more information, click here.

Carolyn Murnick: A Reading and Discussion

Newcomb Institute and the Tulane Department of English are sponsoring a reading and discussion with Carolyn Murnick, online editor at New York Magazine, today at 5 p.m. in Diboll Gallery on the third floor of The Commons. She will discuss her book, The Hot One: A Memoir of Friendship, Sex, and Murder. The book is about two childhood best friends who diverge as young adults, and one woman is brutally murdered while the other is determined to uncover the truth about her wild and seductive friend.
