Biography
Huaizhong Chen teaches Negotiations and Leadership at both the undergraduate and Global MBA levels. Prior to her academic career in the United States, Huaizhong had consulting experience in Management and Entrepreneurship in Singapore and China (Shanghai), specializing in talent management and leadership development for clients including Prudential Financial, PepsiCo, and Singapore Airline Engineering Company. She is a certified user of the Hogan Assessment System and the Leadership Versatility Index, widely used tools in talent selection and executive coaching.
In addition to her consulting work in the private sector, Huaizhong also brings her expertise in negotiation and leadership to global diplomacy. She partnered with the U.S. Department of State to develop indicators of diplomatic engagement aligned with strategic goals, an initiative that led to an invitation to present actionable recommendations to policymakers and diplomats in Washington, D.C., aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of U.S. diplomatic initiatives.
Huaizhong holds a Ph.D. in Management from West Virginia University. She serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, including FT-50 journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Human Resource Management. One of her co-authored articles titled "Is Political Behavior a Viable Coping Strategy to Organizational Politics? Unveiling the Underlying Resource Dynamics" was featured in the Organizational Behavior textbook published by SAGE.
Huaizhong has been recognized with the Dean’s Excellence in Intellectual Contribution Award and the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award, and has received multiple grants, including the Tulane Newcomb Institute Special Initiative Grant, the Newcomb Institute Faculty Grant, and the CELT Faculty Development Grant, among others. Huaizhong was featured as a faculty spotlight in Tulane Today, the university’s official media outlet.
