Cheerleaders move to the beat as the Tulane University Marching Band plays the Green Wave fight song prior to the start of the ceremony. During his address to the Class of 2020, President Fitts encourages students to be aware of the resources around them including, “a diverse and culturally rich hometown of New Orleans that is like no other city in the world.” The grand marshal leads Dr. Michael White & The Original Liberty Jazz Band up the aisle at the conclusion of the program. Mardi Gras beads emblazoned with a likeness of Gibson Hall are handed out as students exit McAlister Auditorium. Once outside the auditorium, students scramble to rub the Victory Bell for good luck.
