Crawfest fun goes mostly virtual in 2021!

Crawfest, the beloved annual Tulane tradition that involves music, art and over 20,000 pounds of crawfish, is being held in a virtual format this year.

The festival will take place on Saturday, April 17, from 1 to 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with Tulane’s and the city’s guidelines. To watch the free livestream the day of the event, click here.

Crawfish and drinks will be distributed in person exclusively to Tulane students, faculty and staff with a valid Splash card while supplies last. Food will be distributed at the Tulane Dining Pavilion, with distribution adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Crawfish will be provided by Johnny’s Seafood, a family-owned seafood business that has been operating in Louisiana since 1960.

The festival will feature live and pre-recorded musical performances by Galactic featuring Angelika ‘Jelly’ Joseph, the Honey Island Swamp Band, Water Seed, Richard Rourke & The Voodoo Collective, and Bo Dollis Jr. and the Wild Magnolias. Performances will also be streamed on Crawfest’s Facebook page in addition to the Crawfest website.

Tulane community members can purchase Crawfest T-shirts the days before the event on McAlister Drive or in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the day of the event from 1 to 5 p.m. in an outdoor classroom on the Berger Family Lawn.
