Glowing with pride June 28, 2021 3:30 PM | Tulane Today staff today@tulane.edu View PDF As part of Pride Month, Tulane University lit up the facade of Gibson Hall to commemorate the Stonewall demonstrations. The demonstrations began when a police raid occurred on June 28, 1969, in Greenwich Village, New York City, at the Stonewall Inn. Following the raid, which occurred often at gay bars at the time, several nights of demonstrations and protests took place and ignited the movement for LGBTQ rights and liberation in the United States. The lights on Tulane’s campus will be up for the rest of the month.
