Marsalis is regarded as the premier modern jazz pianist in the city. Marsalis greets the audience as he takes the stage at the start of his performance in Dixon Hall. The free concert, presented annually by the Lagniappe Series of the Newcomb-Tulane College Dean's Office, always fills the house at Dixon Hall.
