Photos: Debut of sand volleyball
Members of the new Green Wave women's sand volleyball team played their first intercollegiate contest against Florida State University on Monday (March 5) on the Coconut Beach Volleyball courts at The Dock in Slidell, La.
It was a 5-0 loss for the Wave against the Seminoles, but more games are on the schedule for the team, led by acting head coach Jaye Loyd.
Sophomore Azarri Badawi leads the Green Wave with nine kills, six digs and an ace in Monday's opening-season match.
First-year player Amber Bennett has three kills and a pair of digs in action against Florida State.
Sophomore Cori Martone stuffs Florida State's Aurora Newgard. Martone finished with seven kills, 11 digs, a pair of aces and two blocks.
Senior Nikki Osuna tallies six kills and four digs in the team's debut.
