Shaamata King, right, receives a hug from Tulane Cancer Center social worker Melissa Barrois after King shared her appreciation and gratitude with a group of local athletes for their participation in the 2017 Pink Games program. Six volleyball teams raised over $41,000 to support cancer patients, like King, through the Tulane Cancer Center’s Patient Relief Fund, which provides patients with financial assistance related to their treatment. Teams from Cabrini, Chapelle, Dominican, Mount Carmel and St. Scholastica high schools and Loyola University participated in the program.
