The documentary “ELLIS: The Life and Complicated Times of Pianist Ellis Marsalis Jr.” will be screened on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. at Dixon Hall. The documentary delves into the life and career of the master jazz pianist, composer, educator and music icon, with footage of live performances and anecdotes from his sons. It will be followed by a Q&A with director Sascha Just and Courtney Bryan, Tulane composer and pianist — who was recently awarded a 2023 “genius grant” by the John D. and Catherine T.
