Longtime Tulane supporters Don and Lora Peters have increased their recent commitment to Tulane Athletics to over $10 million, which will serve as a lead gift for “Investing in Excellence,” a major capital campaign to upgrade facilities and infrastructure across the university’s athletic programs.

Tulane has received the 2023 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. The seventh annual Tipping Point, Tulane’s fundraising concert that supports student scholarships, will take place Friday, Oct. 20, at The Fillmore New Orleans during Wave ’23 Homecoming, Reunion and Family Weekend. This year’s headlining performers include blues-rock icon Warren Haynes of Gov’t Mule, formerly of the Allman Brothers Band; three-time Grammy Award winner guitarist, singer-songwriter and contemporary blues ambassador Joe Bonamassa; soulful singer-songwriter Allen Stone; and rising soul and R&B singer-songwriter and guitarist Celisse. Tulane University Special Collections (TUSC) will host a social hour and open house during Wave Weekend ’23 and in recognition of American Archives Month. The social hour will take place Friday, Oct. 20, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the TUSC Reading Room and Gallery, located in Room 202 of Jones Hall. Visitors will have the opportunity to view and learn about rare and unique archival materials from TUSC holdings and meet staff who can answer questions about archives and special collections.
