Tony Hu, Weatherhead Presidential Chair in Biotechnology Innovation and Director of the Center for Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics at the School of Medicine, has been awarded three grants totaling over $10 million to develop new diagnostics for tuberculosis, and to better understand the interaction between the TB pathogen and the immune system in adults and children. Kayla Keats, a double major in international relations and political economy and Spanish minor, won the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Student Sustainability Competition for her vision of a sustainable and interconnected world. Head to A Studio in the Woods, located on the West Bank at 13401 Patterson Road, on Saturday, Nov. 11, for the 13th annual FORESTival. The celebration of art and nature will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include music, art demonstrations, an environmental justice hub and art activities for children. Tulane scientists will lead walks in the woods, and a silent auction will feature one-of-kind art objects and experiences.
