Olga Morales-Pate, an accomplished leader in environmental justice and rural community development issues, will serve as the keynote speaker for International Education Week 2023, today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kendall-Cram Lecture Hall at the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life. Morales-Pate is CEO of the Rural Community Assistance Partnership, a national nonprofit network that provides opportunity, assistance and practical guidance to small communities in all 50 states, U.S. territories and tribal lands to ensure access to safe drinking water, sanitary wastewater disposal and economic prosperity. Her work around water resonates locally and regionally as a living example of how water and climate change have shaped and will continue to shape history, both locally and globally. The Newcomb Department of Music and the Tulane School of Liberal Arts present pianist Andrey Ponochevny in concert Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dixon Hall. Ponochevny’s career has encompassed the globe as a preeminent talent among performing artists today. He has received prizes at many international piano competitions and was twice named “Outstanding Artist in China.” He has performed extensively in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. He has given solo recitals at major venues including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City, The Kennedy Center and Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., and Preston Bradley Hall in Chicago.
