A new study by Tulane has uncovered a previously unknown molecular pathway that could be instrumental to halting lung cancer in its tracks. The research could lead to the development of a new anti-cancer drug and more personalized lung cancer treatment, said Dr. Hua Lu, the Reynolds and Ryan Families Chair in Translational Cancer at the School of Medicine. Get in the spirit of the Green Wave’s second consecutive AAC Championship game at a pep rally today, at 5 p.m. on the Berger Family Lawn. The event will feature Coach Willie Fritz and members of the 11-1 football team; performances by the Tulane Marching Band, cheerleaders and Shock Wave; and free food, including Hubig’s Pies and popcorn. Tulane is No. 17 in the latest College Football Playoff ranking and will play for the AAC championship against SMU Saturday at 3 p.m. at Yulman Stadium.

The School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is hosting its first World AIDS Day Resource Fair and Drag Show on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be opportunities to learn about the disease, prevention and treatment methods, and the efforts -- past and present -- that advocate for justice for people living with HIV and for those who have died from AIDS. Tulane University Dance Marathon is partnering with the New Orleans Pelicans to host a family night for Tulane students, faculty and staff Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Smoothie King Center. A portion of the ticket sales for the Pels game against the San Antonio Spurs will be donated to Children’s Hospital of New Orleans as part of the philanthropic group’s long-time support of children’s health. One lucky ticket-holder will present the game ball to the Pelicans and receive an invitation to a private community “hype hour” an hour before the game. Tulane has announced current University of Northern Iowa Athletic Director David Harris would assume the same role with the Green Wave. Harris, a Louisiana native, was named an Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics in 2021.
