A student team representing the A. B. Freeman School of Business took first-place honors in the inaugural Arizona State University NBA Mock Trade Deadline Competition. In winning the competition, the Freeman team — Isaac Popper, Max Yazdian, Cameron Dartez, John Burrows, Asher Nissanoff and Nic Rioja — edged out peers from more than 30 other universities. Experience the magic of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite in a new, special one-hour production Sunday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Dixon Hall on Tulane’s uptown campus. From an enchanting party, a dramatic battle and dancing dolls to a whimsical journey to the Land of Sweets, this magical tale is uniquely brought to life by over 100 participants ages 6-70+ of the New Orleans Ballet Association’s nationally award-winning partnership with NORD. Hosted by the Newcomb Department of Music, the production is the culmination of NOBA’s year-round, tuition-free dance and wellness program offered at up to 20 sites across the Greater New Orleans area. Tulane alums Franziska Trautmann and Max Steitz, founders of Glass Half Full, were named to Forbes 30 under 30 list in the Social Impact category for their work using recycled glass for coastal restoration and erosion protections. The pair started Glass Half Full, which recycles glass into sand, in the backyard of a college fraternity house in 2020. To date, they've diverted more than 6 million pounds of glass from Louisiana landfills.

Tulane alums Harry Gestetner and Simon Pompan, founders of Fanfix, were named to Forbes 30 under 30 list in the Social Media category for their subscription-based platform for Gen Z creators to monetize their content. They sold the company to talent agency SuperOrdinary. On the platform, which now has more than 15 million users and dozens of employees, fans can subscribe to see exclusive content from creators, pay to chat with creators and tip them for their posts. Gestetner and Pompan said the company differentiated itself by being clean, Gen Z-targeted and mobile-first.
