The School of Liberal Arts has received a grant from the Mellon Foundation to develop the Crossroads Cohort: Africana Studies at the Intersection of Art History and Practice, a new initiative that will allow students to pursue an interdisciplinary course of study culminating in either an MA in Africana studies and art history or a studio art MFA with an MA or certificate in Africana studies. Crossroads Cohort was developed by Stephanie Porras, professor of art history and chair of the Newcomb Art Department, and Mia L. Bagneris, associate professor of art history and Africana studies and director of the Africana Studies Program.

Lisa Stockton, Tulane women’s basketball head coach, has announced her retirement after leading the team for 30 years. Stockton retires as the women’s basketball coach with the most wins in Louisiana and the newest inductee to the Conference USA Hall of Fame. Read more on the Athletics website.

An opening reception for the art exhibit “We Bear the Tide, We Brace the Ocean” by Angela Tucker, visiting professor at Tulane, will take place Friday, March 22, at 4:30 p.m. in Diboll Gallery at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
