Ana M. López, professor in the Department of Communication at the School of Liberal Arts and associate provost for faculty affairs, has passed away. López was a global leader in research on Latin American and Latino film and cultural studies and had a leadership role in Tulane’s Stone Center for Latin American Studies. She also served in senior academic and administrative roles throughout some of the university’s most challenging periods. Read more about López on the Tulane News website.

The Newcomb Art Museum received a $150,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to support the work of a new Curator of Campus Collections and Public Engagement, who will contribute to collections sharing and public arts initiatives that can enhance the quality of life on the university’s campuses and for the city’s residents. The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane, in partnership with the NOLA Project, will host By Any Scenes Necessary, a theatre/improv hybrid that will attempt to recreate William Shakespeare’s The Tempest without a script.
