Researchers led by Chenliang Wu, postdoctoral researcher at the School of Science and Engineering, have investigated why the paths of meandering rivers, like the Mississippi River and ancient riverbeds on Mars, change over time and how they may be affected by climate change. Understanding these factors will give researchers insight into how to manage rivers in the future.

The School of Medicine celebrated and welcomed the Class of 2027 at the annual White Coat Ceremony, which marks the beginning of students’ careers in medicine. Registration for Small Group Training sessions for BoxFit and KickBox at the Reily Student Recreation Center will open on Monday, Aug. 14. BoxFit and KickBox both focus on heavy-bag boxing. “The quality of social contact appears to be more important for heart health in people with diabetes than the number of engagements,” says Dr. Lu Qi, HCA Regents Distinguished Chair and Professor at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, of a study that suggests loneliness in patients with diabetes is a greater risk factor for cardiovascular disease than diet, physical activity, depression or smoking.
