Tulane President Michael A. Fitts traveled to Washington, D.C., last week to take part in the annual four-day gathering of Louisiana government and business leaders in the nation’s capital. A highlight was Fitts’ participation in the New Orleans Business Alliance’s panel discussion, which included LaTanja Silvester (right) of Resilience Force, on the state of the New Orleans economy. The gathering was an opportunity to highlight Tulane’s recent impactful actions, including the university’s partnership with LCMC Health, expansion of the downtown campus and investments in research innovation.

The Tulane Freeman Ukrainian Speaker Series will continue Friday, Feb. 3, with the lecture “Minority People in Ukraine: A Case Study of the Greeks of the Azov Region,” which will be presented by Svitlana Arabadzhy, associate professor of history and archeology at Mariupol State University. The Murphy Institute’s Center for Ethics and Public Affairs will host a lecture presented by Serene J. Khader, the Jay Newman Chair in Philosophy of Culture at Brooklyn College and professor of philosophy and women’s and gender studies at the City University of New York Graduate Center, on Friday, Feb. 3, at 4 p.m. in the Rogers Memorial Chapel.
