A short 17 miles away from the Tulane University uptown campus, nestled next to the Mississippi River, there is a place that feels like it is a world away. A Studio in the Woods sits on a little less than eight acres where sculptures are tucked away amidst the forest.
The mission statement of the studio reflects the passions of founders Joe and Lucianne Carmichael preserving nature and fostering art and artists. Since 2003, A Studio in the Woods has offered residencies to artists from around the world. Five years ago, the Carmichaels donated the land and studio to Tulane.
Step into the forest and visit A Studio in the Woods, where art and artists thrive, in this video
