CBS executive to give students tips on media, entertainment careers
When he isn’t overseeing the Grammy Awards or working with managers and recording artists, Jack Sussman will be serving as Tulane University’s newest Executive in Residence.
The Executive in Residence program, sponsored by Career Wave, brings industry leaders to campus to interact with students through presentations, classes and one-on-one meetings.
Beginning Feb. 6, Sussman, who is also a Tulane parent, will be available on campus on select days throughout the spring semester.
“Be ferocious about finding an internship in town. Be a sponge. Learn from the professionals around you. Ask questions. Listen to the answers.”
Jack Sussman, Tulane Executive in Residence
Sussman, executive vice president of specials, music and live events for CBS Entertainment, is CBS’ primary contact to the music industry. He is responsible for finding talent for large events such as “The Grammy Awards” and “The Tony Awards” and is the executive responsible for the network’s live event entertainment programming.
His favorite part of the Executive in Residence role is the opportunity to work with students from a variety of majors.
“It is so important that students have exposure to all areas of interest, across all industries and careers where they might have potential,” said Sussman. “This goes beyond the classroom. It is the ability to see examples of what they study and find interesting in real life.”
Sussman is sure to offer immense leadership advice to all students, whether or not they hope to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
