Colors on Parade

Music and food aren't the only attractions at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Mardi Gras Indians paraded daily in their handmade suits, each one a colorful work of feathered and beaded art. On the first day of the festival on April 29, tribes that circled through the Fairgrounds Race Course included the Geronimo Hunters, the Young Cheyenne, the Black Mohawk and the Black Foot Hunters Mardi Gras Indians. The festival closed on Sunday (May 8) after its annual seven-day run.
