Hanging Out With Snoop Dogg
Have you ever been in the right place at the right time? Let's just say I got way more than my money's worth during the campus concert with Snoop Dogg and the Snoopadelics featuring G-Eazy on Tuesday (March 22) in McAlister Auditorium.

At the spring concert sponsored by the student-led Tulane University Campus Programming (TUCP), my group of friends and I, along with about 15 other Tulane females, were lucky enough to be invited backstage to hang out with the rappers. Later, we danced on stage while Snoop Dogg himself performed his hit, “Sensual Seduction.”
In the small but air-conditioned, florescent-lit VIP room, one half of the rap duo The Hustle Boys called out, “Who wants to be in a music video?”
We enjoyed the casual company of performers old and new, from the legendary Warren G to Snoop Dogg's teenage “nephew,” Young Pilot. By the snack table, I chatted with the extremely approachable Warren G, who explained over broccoli florets and ranch dip that he was inspired at an early age, growing up around hip-hop pioneers N.W.A.
I wondered if he enjoyed performing for a crowd of strictly students, but when asked, Warren G replied amiably, “We like to perform for everyone. As long as they want us, we're gonna keep coming.”
The biggest question still remains: did we meet the man himself, Snoop D-O-double G? Well, kind of. Rather, we saw the back of his long, pig-tailed form as he engaged in a serious conversation with one of his cohorts. In his hand he clasped a crumpled pack of Swisher Sweets and a Saints lighter, with a pair of dark sunglasses dangling from his slender fingers.
But I can't be disappointed that he didn't turn around. Sometimes, it's best to leave legends shrouded in an air of mystery.
