New Career Connection site centralizes career services for Tulane students

Tulane Career Services has released a new way for Tulane students to explore their career options and connect with job opportunities.

The Career Connection website, which can be accessed at career.tulane.edu, is the culmination of campuswide collaboration between several career services teams and offices to help streamline the student experience when exploring career resources.

The creation of the portal was spearheaded by Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC) Career Services and involved the Freeman Career Management Center; the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine Career Center; the School of Architecture Career Services; the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies; the Phyllis M. Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking; Alumni Career and Professional Development; and the School of Professional Advancement.

Each office is also represented on the site, so students can easily access the individual offices’ resources through one centralized hub.

“One of the things that we were trying to address with this site is understanding that students were having to go to multiple sites to get the information that they were seeking, especially around career opportunities,” said Eddy Cruz, assistant dean and executive director of Tulane’s NTC Career Services. “It brings all the career centers together and shows different career paths as well as different affinity group resources.”

The site features a slew of career-related resources including job and internship listings; events such as career fairs, workshops and information sessions; resume and cover letter templates; job and salary data; interviewing tips; networking advice; alumni connections and more.

The site elevates the work and enhanced initiatives of NTC Career Services and other career services teams at Tulane in ensuring students have ample, quality resources available to help them succeed after Tulane.

“While the website offers a breadth of useful resources for students and alumni, there are two key pieces that we encourage everyone to make use of,” said Cruz. “First, all of the career information, news, job and internship opportunities, and event invitations can be customized to each person’s unique goals and interests by logging into the site with their Tulane credentials. It’s a powerful tool that aligns with each person’s unique career journey.”

“Beyond that, we’ve also launched a set of career education modules called Career OnDemand,” continued Cruz. “These modules are available 24/7, and contain engaging videos and comprehensive learning modules for students at every stage of their career journey."

He notes the modules will provide a way for students to access the information they need when and where they'd like. Cruz also said the modules provide a “consistent experience that all students can engage with” when utilizing career services.

“The purpose of the site is to provide students a seamless entry point allowing them to learn and engage with all of the resources our office offers through engaging, mixed-media modules,” Cruz said.
