Professional Development Day 2024 fosters growth and skill enhancement

Hosted by the Office of Human Resources & Institutional Equity, Professional Development Day (PDD) will be a one-day event, taking place Thursday, Sept. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., that will offer Tulane staff and faculty a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and explore new ideas. This year’s event consists of 12 virtual sessions in the morning and five in-person workshops in the afternoon.

These diverse sessions are designed to foster growth in key areas such as:

Leveraging AI to improve efficiency, drive innovation and solve complex problems.

Connecting with inspiring peers and mentors while exploring Tulane's career development resources.

Aligning personal and professional goals with strategies to promote equity, diversity and inclusion.

Participating in self-care and technical tracks to support your well-being and skill enhancement.

Staff and faculty are welcome to participate in as many sessions as they wish or can attend the full-day program. With over 20 speakers and two dozen sessions, the event covers a wide range of topics from leadership strategies to the use of AI. Additionally, the day will include five in-person workshops, creating opportunities for hands-on learning and face-to-face networking.

“Professional Development Day offers a unique chance to connect with colleagues across the university, fostering collaboration and expanding professional networks,” said Patrick Norton, chief operating officer and treasurer at Tulane, in a campus-wide email to supervisors.

Whether joining remotely or in-person, this hybrid event is designed to be accessible and valuable for everyone. Continuous learning has the power to transform careers over time and PDD is one of Tulane’s best events providing professional growth resources and tools to its staff and faculty.
