Air plants add character to the live oaks in City Park.

Resurrection fern and Spanish moss decorate the branches of a live oak tree in New Orleans’ City Park. Both plants are epiphytes, or “air plants,” which grow on the surface of a host plant and gather moisture and nutrients from the environment.
