Tulane’s A. B. Freeman School of Business has received a $5 million gift from Todd (pictured) and Gina Schwartz that will fund programs and a renovation to create the Schwartz Family Center for Experiential Business Learning, which will develop additional pedagogies for teaching students. These experiential learning methods will facilitate new partnerships with local, regional, national and global corporations with whom students will work to perform market analysis, determine the feasibility of launching new products, pursue investment strategies and more.

The New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University and New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) partnership will begin with NOEW’s kickoff on Monday, March 11, and with Book Fest’s kickoff on Thursday evening, March 14, which will serve as a “crossover day” with featured programming by both events. James Shapiro, professor of English and comparative literature at Columbia University, will deliver a lecture titled “Macbeth in Harlem: The Making of the Federal Theatre’s Greatest Hit” on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rogers Memorial Chapel on the uptown campus. Shapiro will lead a lively discussion on the first production of an all-Black cast of Macbeth, which was directed by Orson Welles, then 20 years old, for the Federal Theatre Project in 1937. Current and past commissioners from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, energy titans, leaders in the energy bar, and Tulane law and business professors will provide their insights into the future of energy law at the Tulane Energy Law Forum, which will take place Oct. 26 and 27 at the Renaissance Hotel in New Orleans. Organized by Tulane Law School and the A. B. Freeman School of Business, the forum will draw dozens of experts in the fields of energy and energy law, and will highlight the latest developments and trends in an industry that has captured global attention. Join a group of volunteers at A Studio in the Woods (13401 Patterson Rd.) to get your hands dirty in support of the forest! Volunteers will assist with Environmental Curator David Baker’s work, learning how to identify and properly remove a range of invasive species common in our area on Friday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is required.
