The Asian Studies Program, the New Orleans Center for the Gulf South, and the Africana Studies Program will host a screening of the award-winning documentary Far East Deep South and a discussion with Baldwin Chiu, co-director and producer of the documentary, on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The documentary offers a moving perspective on race relations, immigration and the deep roots of Chinese Americans in the nation’s identity. Following the screening, Jerome Dent, assistant professor of communication and Africana Studies at the School of Liberal Arts, will be in conversation with Chiu.
