At Tulane’s Unified Commencement Ceremony, held on May 20, Commencement honors will be awarded to Jazz Fest producer Quint Davis, “Hamilton” star Leslie Odom, Jr., and AI pioneer Rosalind Picard. Davis and Picard will receive honorary degrees, and Odom, who will serve as the ceremony’s keynote speaker, will receive the President’s Medal.

The School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) has launched two new undergraduate degrees in its Business and Leadership Studies Program: the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior and Management Studies and the Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources. The School of Liberal Arts, the Middle East and North African Studies, and the Department of French and Italian, will host a film screening of Abdellah Taïa’s Salvation Army, followed by a Q&A with Taïa on Monday, April 24, at 5 p.m. in Stone Auditorium of the Woldenberg Art Center. Taïa is the first openly gay writer and filmmaker from Morocco and is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in the Muslim world. Salvation Army is Taïa’s award-winning 2013 film adaptation of his 2006 autobiographical novel of the same title. The Q&A will be moderated by Chenise Calhoun of the Department of French and Italian. Following the Q&A, a reception and the opening of artist Camille Farrah Lenain’s exhibit “Made of Smokeless Fire” will take place at 7 p.m. in Newcomb Hall on the 3rd floor, with music by guitarist and composer Mahmoud Chouki.
