Matthew Dalva, an award-winning neuroscientist whose research focuses on how the connections of the brain form and are changed by experience, has been appointed as director of the Tulane Brain Institute and the university’s newest Presidential Chair. Dalva will join Tulane in late February 2023.

Kiki Petrosino, the award-winning author of White Blood: a Lyric of Virginia (2020) and three other poetry books, is the 2022 Florie Gale Arons Poet. Petrosino will read from her works on Monday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Diboll Gallery of The Commons. Petrosino, the recipient of a Pushcart Prize among other honors, directs the Creative Writing Program at the University of Virginia, where she is a professor of poetry. Since 1999, the annual Florie Gale Arons Poetry Program, sponsored by the Newcomb Institute, has brought a distinguished woman-identified poet to the Tulane campus for a poetry reading and workshop.
