Almost 61 percent of New Orleans residents think charter schools have improved public education in the city, but many still give the system a “C” grade overall, according to a new poll by the Cowen Institute at Tulane University.

Nearly 3,000 Tulane University students convened in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Saturday, May 19, during the university’s Unified Commencement Ceremony. The commencement keynote speaker was author and Tulane professor Jesmyn Ward, two-time National Book Award winner and 2017 recipient of the MacArthur ‘Genius Grant.’
