John Sabo, a leading scholar on water resources and river ecology, has been appointed as the new director of the Tulane ByWater Institute, effective Aug. 1. Sabo will also be a full professor in the Department of River-Coastal Science and Engineering. | Newcomb Art Museum to host screening of ‘Louisiana Reimagines: High Culture Below Sea Level’
On Saturday, June 26, at 12:30 p.m., Newcomb Art Museum will host the screening of Part Two of “Louisiana Reimagines: High Culture Below Sea Level,” a three-part series combining virtual and in-person programs that focus on cultural exchange between artist Laura Anderson Barbata and local culture bearers in New Orleans. The series, which features conversations with Anderson Barbata and Big Chief Shaka Zulu (pictured), leader of the Black masking Indian tribe Golden Feather Hunters, explores traditions of stilt dancing and public procession.
